Not Just for Boys

I was looking at this article about girls who play computer games
I think this is great - the way to get girls gaming isn’t to make “games for girls.” That sort of thing only ends up in disasters like Barbie Games.
Hooray for universal appeal and unbiased marketing!!!
Tony:
I’m reaching the conclusion that its a bit of both. There will always be girls and boys who break the trends, but in the same way that more girls like guys than girls that like girls, and more girls who like mushy romances than guys who do, The average girl finds roleplay games more appealing than other types of game.
Marketing is still a big issue. Consider the inverse though: Girls are supposedly under more pressure than guys to look pretty, wear makeup and not be “geeky”. As well as encouraging geeky lifestyles, the “Don’t look ugly” marketing needs to be lessened.

Gadgets for Girls
Following on from the piece a while back about marketing computer games at girls it appears there’s now a similar vein going on in consumer electronics. I hope they can sort this out. I’ve been talked down to in electronics…
